The Friends of Van Cortlandt Park (FVCP), an independent community based organization, actively promotes the conservation and improvement of Van Cortlandt Park, the third largest park in NYC, through environmental education and restoration and enhancement of the Park, its forests and trails. FVCP has grown to become Van Cortlandt Parks’ primary free educational organization– developing educational and stewardship programs for over 6,500 children and adults each year. FVCP maintains 800 square feet of vegetable beds at our Garden & Compost Site within Van Cortlandt Park- including serrano peppers for Bronx Hot Sauce and other produce which is donated to the Marble Hill Senior Center. Our Garden 2 Market interns help with the gardening and run a seasonal weekly Farm Stand at Amalgamated Houses where they sell affordable locally grown produce along with Bronx Hot Sauce.
