Drew Gardens was formerly a dumping site in West Farms on the Bronx River, but in the mid 1990’s Drew Hyde founder and activist worked with the community to turn this space around into a peaceful refuge. The garden has become a living classroom for students of all ages to study the Bronx River, urban forest, pollinator gardening and so much more. The Bronx River is easily accessible from the gardens edge. The center of the garden holds many gardening beds and plots where community members and students plant, maintain, and harvest their own fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
