Cadillac Urban Gardens
Cadillac Urban Gardens provides a place for residents to come together, learn from each other and have access to fresh fruits and vegetables.  It builds food security for residents with little access to garden space and fresh produce.  It is also a model for sustainable gardening practices.  Residents grow and harvest produce within walking distance of their homes reducing the need to drive to grocery stores.  Also, CUG aims to create a zero waste garden.  The majority of materials utilized in this garden are repurposed, reused, or recycled.  For example, metal shipping crates from General Motors have been repurposed into the raised planter beds, wood pallets are reused as tables, spent plant material is transformed into compost, and tires are turned into pieces of art.  This garden not only grows vegetables, but environmental stewardship and community engagement.
